The Bannabikira (Daughters of Mary) Sisters Bwanda is a Pontifical religious congregation of women within the Catholic Church. Members make a vowed commitment to the love of God and their sisters and brothers in need around the world. They are the first Indigenous group of women south of the Sahara.

 

The Congregation was founded by Archbishop Henry Streicher on December 3, 1910 and placed under the patronage of the Blessed virgin mary - Bannabikira.

Currently the Sisters are working in 16 dioceses in East Africa, residing in 75 convents altogether.​
